Pumpkin Math Day!

On Friday we had our pumpkin math day!  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this a huge success.   Each group of students worked with a volunteer to complete many pumpkin math activities.   First we counted the lines on our pumpkins.  Next we weighed our pumpkins and made a prediction whether they would sink or float.   We put them in a large container of water and realized they all float!  What a surprise!  We cut open our pumpkins and discussed strategies how to count our seeds.  We grouped our seeds in piles of 10 and counted and recorded all our information.   When all groups were finished we compared our data to see who had the most seeds, the heaviest pumpkin and the most lines.  What a busy math day we had!
